Season’s greetings
Posted by Prieur du Plessis under Money, Markets, Investment
Here’s wishing you a great festive season full of fun, laughter and joy. It has certainly been an eventful year, especially as far as financial markets were concerned.
Thank you for your friendship and support in making Investment Postcards such a fulfilling experience, and here’s to a wonderful 2008.

And now for a good laugh. In the spirit of the festive season, click here to see what happens when an investment manager gets “elfed”. This is elfin’ funny!

The last word goes to the subprime debacle. As if it has not dominated the investment world enough, it is now also playing havoc with Santa’s activities.

Still got a big week left in 07 so I can’t quite get into the 08 spirit yet, but we’ll get there. Happy Holidays to you as well!

Merry Christmas Prieur.
I have posted a chart that I think you will
find interesting.
The ratio of Non-Durable to Durable has been rising in the last few years.
I have illustrated how this ratio has increased into mid-recession periods.
Indisputably, the Consumer has a propensity to spend, but does it have the ability to now?

Will, this is an excellent study. Here is the link for people who want to read the full story:

Hello Prieur,
I think we’re going to need some good gallows humor to get us through 2008. So I’ll start with my new x-mas video, “Santa Slain in Drive-by Shooting.” (it actually has a happy ending, so it’s not so gallows.)
