Who would have guessed the V-shaped recovery of the U.S. car sales just a few months ago? (See chart below, courtesy of Clusterstock – Chart of the Day.) Sure, we’re coming off a low base, but it is nevertheless an improvement.

But even more interesting, who would have foreseen the downturn in the fortunes of foreign (Toyota) car sales (blue line)?
