The video clips below provide a handy summary of the reports expected on the economic, financial and corporate front around the globe during the week ahead.
US: Earnings and bank reform
Only three Dow components are left to report quarterly earnings, and if previous reports are any guide the companies should have done well. On Capitol Hill, the Senate will be debating financial-reform legislation.
Europe: Airlines in focus
Earnings from telecoms giant Vodafone will be in focus at the start of the week, with airlines Air France-KLM and British Airways also set to release their latest figures. On the economic front, the week will end with the latest reading of Germany’s IFO business climate index, which should help show how much Europe’s debt crisis has undermined confidence in the Germany corporate sector.
Asia: Central banks in focus
Traders will watch whether the Bank of Japan takes any steps to grow the economy when it announces its monetary policy decision. They will also pore over Reserve Bank of Australia meeting minutes to look for clues about the direction of rates in Australia.
