This chart below, courtesy of Calculated Risk (via Business Insider) measures the percentage of jobs lost during various recessions, and the pace of recovery. As shown, the Great Recession witnessed a significantly larger reduction in employment than in the past. Also, the jobs recovery has been anemic at best.
